annoying problem ,my pc freeze only in windows-xp.when I play games,ex,red alert.Quake,MaxPayne .or red alert inj lan no problems but when I start gamespy it often freeze or when I browse windows and use programs.Then I cant move the mouse and after 2sec a blue screen tell a possible cause of the problem might be nv4,and it displaythe position or adress of the lockup,some (xxxx,xxx adress)the display drivers?I dont think so but the drivers might not be certifaited.
I use nvidia 21,83.I suspect it is the hd or the mobo but why come the lockups only in windows,,can it be windows?I use same xp on another pc without these problems....more,sometimes when it reboot after a lockup it says some files are damaged and neeed to be trunked,or in windows it says I need to run chkdsk.exe,it appears to be some repair program.
It freeze 2-3 times in a row sometimes or can run for 1 day without problems,,I used the promise controller without raid and tested to use ide1 instead,frooze anyway.hate this problem,dont wanna buy new stuff again.
I have also sent the mobo to the retailer(webshop :-/)they tested filetransfer and said the mobo was ok,,?
vI use Athlon XP on an Asus A7V 133 with bios 1,07,,could it be that combination?
