PC DVd to TV

I liketo play DVD videos using my PC and view them through my TV.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to do this without blanking out my monitor when I chose TV in the device selection.

Many Thanks

That's a limitation of the viddy card. Some single RAMDAC cards will allow both displays to run but at reduced resolution (800x600 or 640x480). Ideally, you want a dual RAMDAC card like a Radeon 7500/8500 (or maybe VE if not a gamer) and to enable Theater Mode which will display the movie on the TV while allowing you to continue using the PC at normal resolution.

If you are not into games at all, I would suggest Matrox Millennium G450 Dualhead. Or G550, if G450 is not available any more. They have two excellent RAMDACs, very good quality TV-out, and you can at the same time work on monitor on sth else. You even don't have to run the video in a small window on your monitor, you can minimize it to taskbar, the DVDMax feature of the card still sends it perfectly to your TV. And it does for DVDs as well as avi-s or mpg-s or whatever kind of video format you have.

I have the ASUS Geforce 2 MX 7100 Deluxe. It's a pretty cheap card and it allows dual display so it will not blank out the image. I have my computer in my kitchen and my TV in my living room... I can watch a movie while making dinner and go back and fourth between rooms while watching it.

If you just use your tv to watch DVD's or mpg's, then you could get a DVD decoder card like the Hollywood + card from Sigma designs. It's great and it will allow you to output digital sound to a stereo receiver if you want as well as allow you to use your monitor on the existing video card at the same time with another application.

Hi..try TVTool... it is shareware and willonly run ten minutes, but if it works it only costs 20 bucks. It will allow you to run dual mode on cards (like Gforce cards) with TVout that only have one mode. Just do a search on Google and u should find it..... I use it to watch DIVX movies from my PC on my big screen tv with a wireless a/v kit.....good luck.
