Greetings to everyone as I am new here,

Since 2-3 days I have a weird issue with me PC. After I restart my PC (ONLY after restarts, not regular boot ups), the monitor remains like turned off and there are not any BIOS beeps... I have to swich of the power supply to get it fixed.

What I did was to take off my 2 RAM kits and try them one by one to every RAM slot, this seemed to work fine and when I did put back both RAM kits everything was fine again...

But during the day I did 3-4 restarts and in just one of them I had the same problem...

So, can anyone help?

My system is:
AMD Phenom x4 9850 Black Edition
2x2 Kingston DDR2 800
ATI Radeon HD 4870 - 512MB
ASUS M3A32 MVP Deluxe

Thanks everyone in advance!

Two suggestions:

1. Remove and reseat your vid card. If necessary, clean the contacts before re-installing it.

2. Check the electrolytic capacitors (the tall cylindrical components) on your motherboard and vid card. If the tops of any them are dome shaped, instead of flat, or there is any sign of leakage around the base, that could be causing your problem. If they're just beginning to go bad, it could boot up OK and lock up after they get warm.

The same could be true of your PSU, and you could also have another thermally sensitive component, such as an IC, going bad.

Hope that helps. Good luck. :)

Electrolytic capacitors seem fine to me.. Since 2-3 or days everything works fine..

An other (noobish) question is, if there is something with my PSU, could you say if either it will happen again and again or it will may happen quite rarely

Thanks a lot for your reply mate :)

Given the type of issue you are running into, it could be any number of things really. PSU seems like a likely culprit as well. If you have a secondary system with a capable PSU, it'd be worth trying, IMO.

What is your current PSU's model and how old is it?
