PC Died while dusting

I turned on my PC and it booted up fine. I noticed it had a little dust on the top and front panel, so I grabbed a nearby duster thingy(a handle with some kinda soft synthetic bristles on the end) and began dusting the top..no probs..then I start dusting the front of the case and the monitor goes dark and I'm thinking I must of hit the reset switch accidentally.
I pull the power cord then put it back in and hit the power button. The fans spin, but the monitor isn't getting any signal and I notice the HDD light is lit and one of my optical drives light is on.
I'm thinking I have a conflict so I begin unhooking things one by one to see what the prob is, but the monitor never gets a signal.
I have even went as far as removing the board from the case and only hooking up the PSU, 1 stick of RAM, and on board vid, but it still doesnt work. I have tried the clear CMOS jumper, and also removing and reinstalling the CMOS battery.

How could a duster kill a PC? What do you all think the problem is? Craptastic ECS board dirt napping after sudden restart? CPU went bad? RAM fried? any ideas?

specs are in sig

thanks

Evidently your dust thingy was loaded with static electricity and you discharged it onto your front panel. Does your case/PSU have a circuit breaker?

While fartfatched the secound poster could be correct. That's the only possible reason I can think of, or possibly it's just coincidence that your PC may have lost PSU connection. The only possible solutions:

Swap Vcards
Swap PSU's or disconnect hardware until your only running bare basics.

If all else fails it could be a dead PCI-e slot.

Duster's can hold some nice electrostatic shock, not a good idea to use them on a computer while it's running. Most likely zapped the motherboard.

Yea it's not a good idea to use a duster thingy on a running(or not) PC....It's on my ever increasing list of things to not do again.

I tried again this morning with a spare PSU and the board out of the case with only the bare essentials hooked up using the on board vid , but it still would not post.
I have a DFI Blood Iron on order so hopefully the rest of my parts will still work.

BTW I purchased the board in a combo deal at Fry's. Will they replace the board or would I need to RMA to ECS?

thanks

you possibly shorted out the motherboard with that duster. I recomment next time using compressed air and a vacuum.
