Hello All,

I'm hoping someone can help me debug my PC. The other day I woke up and my PC was off and would not turn on. I assumed the PSU had failed, so I ordered a new one. It came today, but before I installed it, I plugged the PC into another outlet just as a sanity check. This time it would power up, fans spun, and the mobo power light was on. However, it still wouldnt boot or even post. No beeps or anything. Also, I dont know if this has anything to do with it or not, but the video card fan was making a wooshing sound as if it was slowing down and speeding up in a periodic manner. Finally, the case lights were all blinking on and off at the same time (HDD light, power light, and the two LEDs on my card reader (i.e. SD, CF, etc)).

I went ahead and installed the new PSU, and its still acting the same. I dont know where to go from here in terms of debugging... Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help!
Marshall

Check the cables on the motherboard. Maybe check the memory, but it seems like that it's more of an issue with the motherboard area. Hmm..how about power switch/reset switch? Either of those jammed or not in all the way?

I had a similar problem on one my C2D machines, turned out it was a the mobo. I had to change the mobo though as it was faulty, guess you should definitely check on the mobo cables first.

You might want to try and clear/reset your BIOS on the motherboard and see if that makes a difference. It is simple to do and might help.
