i just bought this computer and i am having the worse time with it. it works fine when im not ingame but whenever i try to play it freezes up. just locks up and i have to coldboot it

my pc is not overclocked but i did run it overclocked for a while than decided there was no need for it.

specs

c2d e6400
gigabyte 965p-ds3
wintec ampo 2x1gb
x1950xt

i have my pciexpress locked at 100mhz and everything aside from that is default. the ram runs ddr2667.

i am seriously sick and tired of it locking up ingames. there is enough ventilation in the case. and i have a 9500 on the processor. however tat reads 50c idle but the gigabyte utility easytune 5 reads 35idle. ati tool is 57c

please please help me =[

What kind of PSU you using? I used to have similar problems until I figured it out one day and bought a bigger/higher quality PSU.

That is just an idea but honestly it could be a number of things.

You have a defective piece of hardware. In order of probability:

GFX card: 80%
RAM: 18 %
PSU: 2%

For some reason many people on these forums blame WWII, famine, Mariah Carey and Bad jokes on PSUs, but in my experience the GFX cards and RAM are far more often the culprit, unless you live in an area with very poor power quality.

I highly doubt those are the probability ratio of defective hardware... Maybe the PSU... I could agree with that, but the GFX card? hahaha, so F-ing way; the company would go bankrupt with replacements...

Do you have supporting data?
