PC crashes when left on overnight/over weekend

I've got a PC which is a few months old. Works fine when I'm sitting in front of it, never had it crash or anything.

Win 7 Ultimate
16gb ram
128 ssd drive

However, if i leave it on over night or over the weekend, it almost always crashes at some point. The event log just says the computer didn't cleanly shut down. I did however notice something - the time between it saying the crash occurred and when the computer comes back up seems to fluctuate. I've had it say the computer crashed at X and the time stamp on the error message is X plus 1 minute, and it's been as much as +20 minutes. Not sure why it would take so long for the computer to reboot.

I thought maybe it was a power issue, but I have the PC plugged into a UPS. I tested the UPS by pulling the plug from the wall and waiting a few minutes and the PC hibernated like it's supposed to. I tested this twice and it worked both times.

I do not have any scheduled tasks running. And the crash doesn't happen at any particular time.

My guess at this point would be the PSU. I think it's just a generic PSU - didn't opt for a name brand PSU when i ordered the PC. It's a decent size though - 500 watts.

It doesn't appear as though the PC is actually crashing since there's no memory.dmp file and the event log always just says it didnt shut down cleanly. So it seems as though the power is just going off. Which is why I'm thinking PSU. Either that or the UPS is flakey - it's a CyberPower CP600LCD. I've got the PC, 1 monitor, a router and modem plugged into it. I turned off the monitor before leaving last time and it still crashed.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks, I just ran that. Nothing in the report really stood out to me as being a problem. Some errors showed up but I wouldn't really call them errors. I dont know why being configured as a high performance plan would be classified as an error. Couple of message about usb device not entering suspend state. A handful of warnings about the platform timer resolution.

But nothing that looked like anything that would cause a problem

Start by running outside of ups to take that out of equation.

Could be a motherboard related issue...did u build this yourself? Are u over clocking or running at stock settings?

See if there is a bios update available... As it may address how the board is managing power, sllep states, etc.

What kind of sleep/suspend options do you have enabled? I would start by setting "turn off hard disk after" to never, and disabling usb selective suspend under advanced power options.

Also make sure your SSD and HDD are plugged into the primary SATA controller of your system, and not a marvell, or add-on controller.

Did you change any power options in the bios? You might need to post some more specific specs on your computer, especially the motherboard.

This is a PC i bought from IBuyPower - i just picked up a new PSU from them earlier today but haven't had a chance to install it yet. I'll do that tomorrow when i get into the office and then leave the PC and see what happens. if it crashes again, I'll try some of your suggestions and report back.

Thanks
