Hello!! I have a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card in my PC, and I'm trying to hook it up to a Onkyo DW-S500:

The Onkyo shelf system has a Optical Digital Output, Line-Level Input & Output, and a USB connection.
The Turtle Beach Santa Cruz has a VersaJack, Line In (Front L/R channels), Line/Headphones output (Front L/R channels), Line/Headphones output ( Rear L/R Channels).

What cables/connectors are needed for me to get sound from my Turtle Beach to my Onkyo? I can use the USB to listen to mp3's and such, but when playing a game (counterstrike), I assume I would need some kind of connector between the sound card and the receiver?

Thanks!!

Check out this page at the Turtle Beach website.

When the VersaJack output is set to digital mode, playing a DVD encoded with Digital Dolby AC-3 multi-channel audio automatically sends the digital AC-3 signal to the VersaJack ring conductor. This signal should be connected to an amplifier, receiver or speaker system with a digital input and AC-3 decoder so the AC-3 decoder in the amplifier will convert it into 5.1 surround sound.

The SB Live series (maybe Audigy as well) has a digital out jack just like the VersaJack. I have mine hooked up to an external Dolby Digital decoder (Cambirdge Soundworks) and amplifier as well. I know this works, it sounds amazing when you get everything hooked up and working together. Good luck!

Thanks for the link techfuzz;very informative! Your above quote is similar the setup I'm trying to put together...my only question is, what connectors do I need and where could I get them?

Unfortunately all the information I've found indicates that the DW-S500 doesn't have any digital inputs and that optical is an output only. The only option looks like stereo level input. That looks like your only option and at best it is going to be stereo (2-channel) only and not digital. Just get a stereo to stereo cable and plug it into the Line/Headphones output of the sound card and the Line-Level input on the stereo.

Sorry, you really need a different receiver before proceeding down this line of thinking much farther. Something like a true home theater Dolby Digital 5.1 or better receiver to do what I think you want to do. That is what I have setup at home.
