Hey guys (and gals).
I'm looking into building a computer for my dad. He does mostly web design and digital pictures so I don't have to have top of the line stuff. So far I'm looking at:

P4 2.8 512kb cache 400fsb
Asus P4P800 E
256 x 2 pc3200 RAM
Cooler Master Cavalier with a 350 p/s
ATI Radeon 9200

This is just a start nothing set in stone but I'm trying to keep eveything close to $700. I would really like to get the cost down to around $500, and like I stated NO GAMING, mostly graphics.

Thanks

After looking around alittle more I noticed the Asus P4P800-MX. It looks to be a pretty good mobo. How well does the onboard video work on these (no 3D)? If I do this i can jump up to a P4 3.0 FSB 800

Might save a few bucks & have some future proofing buying one 512mb dimm instead of 2x256, and have a look at boards with onboard graphics if he does no gaming; even the 5200s & 9200s cost a few bucks; onboard graphics usually add less than $10 to a motherboard.

well the reason I'm going with 2 x 256 is because i have 1 stick already. Yeah I think for now I might go with on board video

If it's a P4 non-gaming system a Dell Hot Deal would give you a cheap decent system with warranty and a legal copy of Windows.

If he's doing pictures and web design, I would move to get 1024MB RAM...just because he's going to be doing a lot of multi-tasking. Extra RAM would go a long way especially if he's doing heavy photoshop work.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I ended up going with a intell board with video, 1024 MB RAM, and a P4 2.8 800mhz fsb. I hope he is pleased with it.
