I have an MSI z77-g43 motherboard and am trying to get a speaker to work on it. The speaker I have looks almost exactly like this one: http://www.amazon.com/PC-Internal-Mi...ords=pc+buzzer

And the pinout on my board looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/KvQ0E.jpg

So it seems simple enough, but I don't get any beeps at all when I reboot. I tried it with the text facing forwards and backwards. I did accidentally put it on one of my usb ports, but I was having the same problem before I did that.

The USB header may still work, but most speaker voice coils will fry with the 5 volts DC that a USB header supplies.

Well I'm trying out the header now and it seems to be working okay with my mouse and wireless joystick. Is it possible anything else was damaged?

Are you sure it's supposed to beep on a reboot? My last couple boards have not. One, a DFI, would beep on a cold boot, but nothing on a reboot. My current Asrock P67 used to beep on boot, or reboot, but after updating the bios, it only beeps when entering or exiting the UEFI bios.

I also have dealt with many boards at work that don't beep on boot, but they will beep if there is any type of error, such as no memory or video card.
