I'm staring at my brand-new OEM AthlonXP 1700+ and wanted to know if I should take off the price-tag sticker thing that on the CPU? It has a number on it (warranty is what i figure) and I"m not sure if this sticker will catch on fire and burn or something when I use my PC.

My next question is about heatsink installation. I have a thermalright SK-6 and of course they provided no instructions. I was able to mount the clip and fan on the heatsink, but I"m not sure how to apply the pads that came with the heatsink. I also have some thermal grease that came with my Alpha Heatsink and I'd like to know instructions on applying that.

Thanks,
Playply

P.S. I would rather not ordering Artic Sliver II as I want to build this computer this weekend.

you can leave that sticker on, i usually do, and no, it doesn't catch on fire.

thermalright has sk-6 install instructions on their website (thermalright.com)

DO'NT use the thermal pads that come with it, they're crap. you need to use thermal grease. obviously, arctic silver is the standard. i'm not sure what kind of grease might have come with your alpha.

my suggestion is this

1) go to arcticsilver.com and read their instructions for putting on thermal grease
2) remember the key: less is more. you need a paper thin coat of it, nothing more
