hehe, yes it's pretty much the same...just make sure you ground yourself (make sure to get a Anti Static Wrist Strap for Grounding see h**p://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=WRISTSTRAP)

and if you have any problems/questions/concerns just post 'em and someone will help you asap ^_^

I myself will be making my first cpu/mobo build, so I'm nervous about it as well...

Anti-Static straps aren't a must-have. No reason not to get one if it'll ease your mind, but I haven't used one. Just remember to ground yourself before touching any components and take basic precautions against static. (Don't assemble your computer on a carpet while wearing a wool sweater and rubbing a balloon, that kind of thing.)

I've never used an anti-static bracelet, and haven't had a problem, just use common sense, aka, DSF's post.

On the side, we need to find a updated build guide to link, with the same detail as the huge one mechBgon wrote.

here is what I built this weekend. I used the guides minimally, but only because I read 4 of them during the week. but in the end, it took 8.5 hours (first timer cautions), but it is running. Now going through the benchmarks

oh yeah, i used the antistatic wristband to be safe. it was only $4.99 to be safe with a $1500 machine.

system info:

Intel i7 920
asus p6t deluxe
WD 6400 aaks 640mb
evga gtx260 216 core superclocked
bfg 800 watt power
3 x 1 gb corsair xmsr3 ddr3 1333
cooler master rc 590 case
acer 22"
samsung 22x dvd burner
2 extra 120mm fans (top vents blowing out of the machine)
Saitek Eclipse Keyboard
Vista 64 bit
