i?ve been saving my pennies, and i?m ready to step-up to a semi-pro/pro level DV system ? all i need now is advice! i don?t want to give my money to one of the big guys, like dell or gateway, because i?ve heard they really skimp on parts quality. (plus, by not buying into one of the mega corps, it makes me feel all the more ?indie?).

i?ve been searching around, and bang-for-the-buck i think i like the look of these guys: Phlanet E*Media (www.phlanet.com). they say they build high-end workstations for DV ... i?ve just never heard of them.

what do you make of this?
- SuperMicro motherboard w/ Intel 7505 chipset
- dual Intel Xeon processors @ 2.66GHz each w/ 533MHz front side bus
- 2GB PC2100 Registered ECC DDR266 RAM (what is registered ECC?)
- ATX Steel server tower case
- 120GB Western Digital hard drive @ 7200RPMs w/ 8MB buffer (?)
- 36GB Seagate Cheetah SCSI drive @ 15,000RPMs
- 52x24x52x CD-RW drive / 16x DVD-ROM drive / 1.44MB floppy
- Matrox Parhelia dual display video card w/ 128MB DDR RAM (?)
- standard NET goodies (v.92 modem, gigabit ethernet, etc.)
- Windows XP pro
- Creative Labs Audigy 2.0 platinum sound card
- premium heatsink/fan/cooling system (i don?t know what this is)

all for $4,104.

i compared these spex to something from dell, and this was actually cheaper ... but like i said, i don?t know the company. they do offer 3-years warranty w/ 1-year overnight service and free lifetime tech support, though.

does anybody know Phlanet E*Media? their site looks great and the service looks great ... i guess my question becomes ? would you buy from somebody you?ve never heard of? there was a time when ?dell? was a no-name, right?

thanks in advice for comments/advice/help!
