PC <-> Apple File conversion issues still exist?

With Mac OS X are there any file conversion issues between PC's and Mac's? I'm trying to see if I would should recommend Maclink Plus for a friend's upgrade to OS X

I transfer files between OS X and windows all the time. As long as you keep the filename extensions, it's fine.

text files maybe handled a little differently (mainly the new lines) but that's more of an os issue
