Can I use that program to e.g. control programs on my other computer, for example to burn CDs and use Newsbin?
I currently have everything set up on my main rig but would like to use the other machine to download stuff overnight and to then burn the CDs.I do not have a second monitor/mouse/keyboard though so if I could somehow control it from my main rig it would save a lot of time.
Sorry, I don't know anything at all about remote programs. Thanks

With PCAnywhere you basically take control of the remote computer... typically over a modem to a distant, remote site.

However, I think I might be more inclined to get a good KVM switch, which lets you switch your keyboard/video/mouse back and forth between two computers.

I don't think so ... you have to have PCAnywhere running on both computers for it to work.

Do both computers have to run XP for that? (Right now one is XP Pro and one is Win98SE)

You should be able to with Boot on LAN. Thats if your using a network or broadband connection.. Some modems have wake on "something" that would turn on the machine...
