pc and lcd not working

please help. i was overclocking for the 1st time ever, i was using the guide from ocforum. when i was trying to find maximum htt on 3x multiplier to check that htt is not limited something went wrong. my lcd monitor stopped working, its a 5 year old nec 1530v. also my pc wouldn't post. so i hooked my old dusted pc and the lcd still wouldn't turn on. i hooked the old picture tube monitor to the new pc and it didn't work either but its working with this old pc im on right now. my only way is to restart bios? will i lodr everything on my hd

Yes, clear your CMOS using the jumper on your motherboard, reset all jumpers to the default for your hardware and start over. If the monitor works on another machine, either the settings in your CMOS were unworkable, or you fried your vid card.

If resetting the CMOS does not work, try another vid card, and you will know where the problem is.

That's possible. The only way to know for sure is to try it on another machine. If it doesn't work, the only way to know will be to take it to a tech qualified to test it.
 
i checked my jumper setting and the cap was placed on pin 2-3 (i didn't move this before)which means clear cmos. howwever it should of been on pin 1-2 default. in manual it says to move it from 1-2 to 2-3 and wait 10 secthen move it back to 1-2. so do i just follow the step and place it on 2-3 again or do i go from to 2-3 to 1-2 wait10 secs then go to 2-3?

Placing the jumper on 1 - 2 shorts the battery connection to the CMOS. When it loses power, it loses the stored information and returns to the programmed default settings. You can do the same thing by shorting across the two pins with a metal object like a screwdriver.

Placing the jumper back on the 2 -3 position restores the battery power to the CMOS so it is once again able to store your settings. That's the normal operating condition. In that position, the jumper does nothing, and it is essentially just a place to store the jumper until you again need it to clear the CMOS.
