PC 2100 on kt400 booard

How will pc2100 run on a KT400 board - I have 786 of pc2100 that I don't really want to replace - just the board and maybe upgrade from xp1300 to xp2600. Any comments appreciated.

Thanks John in Miami

As long as you buy a CPU that runs at 266 FSB (TBred will work fine) your memory will run right in spec.. don't buy an XP2500+ Barton with 333FSB and expect the PC2100 to hold up.. you'd need a memory upgrade.

but if you bought a 2600+ 266FSB you'd be fine.

I thought the clock on the motherboard controlled the timing, not the CPU.

Your mobo will read/write to RAM at 333 Mhz. Your PC2100 RAM is rated to be error free when accessed at 266 Mhz. It will probably work at 333, but with occasional errors.

Thanks - I guess Ill' byte the bullet and add the pc2700 'cause I want to upgrade to the barton core. Memory's pretty cheap any way right now.

Thanks John
