I have 2 PC's both running Windows XP Pro. I bought a crossover cable today and plugged each end into the ethernet cards. Rebooted both computers and i get a Local Area Connection has limited access. When I look in the network places on either computer, I dont see them. Any assistance please. Im just trying to transfer the files from my old computer to my new one.

Gotta turn on File and Print sharing. And share a folder(or a drive if you want) on at least one computer. Or both computers. Just depends how much flexability you'd like. For the easiest way, you'd share the hard drive on both computers. Right click on the folder or drive in question and pick SHARING tab.
