I currently have the option of running 256 Megs of PC-133 RAM or running 384 Megs of PC-100 RAM, which would be better? The OS is Windows 2000 Professional.

(it works out that i'll have two 64mb pc100 chips and one 256mb pc133 chip, which is why i ask)

Depends what you'll use your system for. If you use software that benefits from more memory(i.e. Photoshop) then use the 384 PC100 option. If you are a gamer, the 256MB PC133 will be a much better option since the extra bandwidth helps.

Depends on what you run and how much memory you need.
If you need a lot of memory then the extra 128MB of RAM would offset the performance loss due to PC100, if you don' need the extra memory then the PC133 will be better.

I've been in the same situation and I chose to go with more RAM of the PC100 rather then less RAM and PC133, but that's because I need lots of physical memory.

It depends on your uses what is better for you.
