PBS really is a good network.

Say what you will about them, it's good to see them showing programs to help with adult literacy and basic skills. I wish more channels did things like that.

Well, I'm pretty damned conservative, but it's nice to see programs like that. They should have a whole "Learn English" channel. It could really help the immigrant population, especially around here where we are swimming in immigrants of... questionable legality since Katrina.

If thats true, then damn commie #2 reporting for knowledge, er, ... duty. NPR/PBS run constantly, sometimes loud because i hope to spread knowledge to my neighbors. 🙂

You're swimmin' in immigrants from where exactly? Katrina refugees were from LA. Hicks from MS treat people from LA as immigrants? Mississippi is not an immigrant haven. Shucks, i is surprised y'all still gots coloreds dun thar giben haw y'all treats 'em.

I'll take your post sentence by sentence and I added pictures since you don't seem to comprehend well. Don't be a hero and try to read it all at once, it might be a bit much:

Mexico
Katrina refugees were from LA
Some were. Many from here in Mississippi were. See, Mississippi is on the Gulf Coast too. We're actually right next to Louisiana. See?. Those lines on the map aren't actually big walls or anything like that, so there's nothing to prevent Katrina from hitting both states. See? There's just a river there, no big black lines.
Hicks from MS treat people from LA as immigrants?
Not that I am aware of.
Mississippi is not an immigrant haven.
Let me clarify for you. See, when a big hurricane hits somewhere, it tends to cause a lot of damage. Some people don't like that and they want to rebuild their houses. When a lot of people want to do that, that causes a labor shortage. That means that contractors sometimes bring in illegal immigrants to do manual labor because they know that they don't have to pay them standard wages or provide benefits.
Shucks, i is surprised y'all still gots coloreds dun thar giben haw y'all treats 'em.
Well, it honestly doesn't surprise me that you're surprised by black people living in Mississippi (or coloreds as you call them), but yes, we have black people (They're even college professors!). Heck, Whites and Blacks even get along.

I love PBS, NPR, and MPR (Minnesota Public Radio). MPR's new Twin Cities station, "The Current," is an absolutely supurb music station. If I could choose to listen to only one radio station for the rest of my life, that would be the one. The fact that they don't run commercials is just icing on the cake. I donated $240 last year. In return, they sent me an oversized coffee mug emblazoned with their logo. No bumper sticker though. WTF is up with that?

PBS is great. I'm not into TV. I've even put it away for 10 years. But, if I must watch it, PBS is great. BBC does some good stuff too, great documentaries.
