you know how paypal has those ridiculously large fees whenever you receive money from someone? is there some way to get around that, or is there another service similar to paypal that doesn't charge such crazy fees?

Don't accept credit card payments on a brand new account, then all transfers are free.

i have two accounts, one for my business, one for personal.

The personal account cannot accept credit cards, but can accept instant transfers, paypal balance, and e-checks. No fees.
The business account can accept CC's along with the rest but gets hit with the pp fee on every transaction.

I just give people the personal account unless they are paying with a CC.

And if you sell stuff on eBay, just be sure to put in the notes that you only take BANK ACCOUNT FUNDED paypal and that Credit Cards are not accepted.... That's what I always do even though some idiots can't seem to figure that part out...

A few options:
  • Downgrade your Paypal account, you are allowed to do this ONCE. But you will no longer be able to accept cc payments.
  • If you're listing an eBay auction, DO NOT click on "accept Paypal" because they will display the Paypal logo along with VISA/MC. Your eBay bidders will be confused.
  • blackdogdeek and aphex have the right idea open a second Paypal account to accept non-cc payments only. So you'll have one Paypal account for cc and one for non-cc. This is perfectly legal and Paypal allows it.

Paypal Help

Q: Can I have a PayPal Personal and a Premier/Business Account?
A: PayPal allows members to have one Personal account and one Premier or Business account. However, each account must contain an unique email address, bank account and credit card.

That really should be added to the ATOT FAQ
