I paid $3.55 for the insurance on paypal so I can get my money back if I get ripped off. Well thats the way I understood it anyway. But I was wondering how do I do it? Do I file a claim on there or would it be better to call them?

he was suppose to ship it last Saturday. We agreed he ship it UPS/Fedex since its cheaper and has good tracking. Instead he says he went on vacation for a couple days when he was suppose to ship it. Says he had a friend ship USPS ground(guessing first class)? Also he said he didn't get DC#. Well since last Saturday I have only been able to get ahold of him once and have tried PM's and he ignores me on AIM it seems. Hes been posting about every day or every other day on the forum. Its a different forum than this. He had 19 or so feedback for that forum.

Question should I wait little longer for the package or go ahead and start the claim? Am I jumping the gun? If he wasn't ignoring me it wouldn't be so bad.

Give it a few days, it was the holiday weekend after all.

I believe there's a minimum amount of time you have to wait to file a claim via Paypal, as well.

Yes.
Am I jumping the gun?
Yes. Even if this past week had not been the week of Christmas, it would be a bit too soon. Obviously moreso considering the holiday, as most carriers deal with far more packages this time of year than others.

Would however make note of the shipping delay and that the shipping carrier was changed (appears to have been downgraded) in whatever feedback response you leave.

If he or you are anywhere near the midwest, factor in the snowstorms that crippled most every business until today since last Wednesday.

Make sure you don't wait too long. You only have 30 days or so. I learned this the hard way, and gave the seller the benefit of the doubt, and got burned out of $52. If they are ignoring your messages, go ahead and file a claim. Better safe than sorry.

Well I still find it quite strange that he seems to be ignoring me. Also I had 2 packages shipped from different ppl Wednesday of last week and they got here today. I'll give it a couple more days then. I've been dealing for years and haven't had a package take more than a week and a half even during holidays.

Are you certain tracking is optional with UPS ground? I thought all UPS had tracking, including ground.

It's really a bad sign when someone sells something and then "goes on vacation" and passes all responsibility to "a friend."

I think I'd just go ahead and file whatever I needed to, I'm sure if in the meantime the package arrives you'll be able to stop the procedure with PayPal.

Any resolution to this? Package arrived, I take it?
