Paypal scam question

I'm trying to sell some computer stuff locally. (15" LCD, 19" LCD, 19" CRT, some parts, router etc.)
A guy contacted me and he was interested in buying something from me. So I gave him the list of what I have for sale and asked what he wanted without giving details of stuff and asking price. I just got email from him and he said he would buy 2 LCD's but without asking the price or the condition of them. And he would pay by paypal eventhough he would come to pick them up at my place.

I was wondering if there's a way that someone pays through paypal and fund is transferred to my account then make scam out of it?

I see.

how do I know if it's hijacked? I can't receive CC-fund, so it's not a problem.
by the way, what's charge back? how does it work?

Simply tell him that you will hold the LCDs for him and that he should use some of the services paypal offers to have a check issued to him.

If he doesn't like it, too bad.

From the optimist's view, he could just have funds in his paypal, and may not want to have to wait the 2-3 days for the bank account transfer. You could ask if this is the case, and just tell him you would prefer to wait those 2-3 days and get cash/cashier's check.

I have no problem using paypal. I'm using it all the time in ebay and here in anandtech.
The thing that makes me suspicious of him is he didn't check the price and condition of the items and he would buy them with paypal, not cash. If I were to buy something, I would check all the details of the item and ask the price and try to make deal. That's what normal people would do in my opinion.

you are correct, be suspicious/be careful

we don't want to see you posting back here about how you got ripped off
