I'm wondering as long as you see you have received a payment in PayPal, do you think that this is safe enough to send an item to someone you are selling on the forum, or could they easily get the payment sent reversed?

Is it better to wait till you've transfered the funds to your bank account?

From what I can understand they can reverse it pretty easily at any time. Just make sure you are dealing with someone reputable.

To go a little further, pulling money out of your Paypal account doesn't really protect you that much. If Paypal chooses to reverse the charge, they'll simply take it back from you bank account. If you don't have enough money in your bank account to cover it, you'll get hit with NSF fees and possibly collections. In the end, your best bet is to keep careful record of the transaction so that in the event of a dispute, you can present it to Paypal in an orderly fashion.

If it's an instant transfer or CC payment it's safe to ship. If it's an Echeck, wait until it clears before shipping. It's not that easy for a buyer to just "reverse payment" as some have mentioned. It would require them to file a dispute first, which is a lengthy proces and has your involvement as a seller. They can do a chargeback if they paid using CC.

Are you selling to someone on Anandtech with good heatware? Or someone on eBay?
