I don't think there was anywhere better to post this, sorry if I am mistaken.

I have never used PayPal, and I know some people say that it is the devil. However, I would like to be able to buy and sell things on this FS/FT board, possibly eBay, and maybe others eventually. PayPal seems to be the most popular choice for the financial part of these transactions, so I am planning on creating an account with them.

I was wondering whether a personal or premier account would be the right choice. I do not expect to make many transactions, but some may be as high as $2k. It also looks like I'll have to choose a financial account, or the moneypak system for payment during the account setup (I assume that can be modified anytime). I will certainly not be tying my savings account to them, but was wondering what the advatages, disadvantages, and pitfalls are to using credit vs debit are with them (I have WF checking and WF Visa if that affects it).

Please let me know if the whole thing is a bad idea, because I have gotten by on buying new and giving stuff away or selling for a little cash to family and friends so far. Also, I hope I can participate with a new heat account I'll have to setup, as long as I'm willing to wait until delivery for payment when I'm selling, or pay up front when buying for a while. Also, there is little to no wait time after setting up a PayPal account to be able to use it right? Thanks for any and all help!

Nothing FS/FT here, then this belongs in OT

get premier. if you are using premier you can choose to make a "purchase" or a "personal" payment anyway . if you choose personal in premier its just like personal paypal.

the main thing with premier is you can accept credit cards incoming (for a fee). i do not think paypal is really that bad. i have been using them since they started out and its been a pretty decent experience.

and yeah they will probably lock this post since it probably should have gone in "off topic". though on the other hand, it sort of makes sense to post it here, since stuff gets randomly lost in off topic since its a totally different crowd over there.
