PayPal Question

i've just completed my first ebay SELLERs transaction. a bidder used the buy it now option. have a few questions

Instant Transfer means ... it automatically is paid when i accept?
does this mean it wasn't a Credit Card Paypal

what is the common "cut" paypal takes from a payment?
Does this include the ebay fees?

right now, paypal is saying the fee is $5.01

thanks

EDIT - i think it's a credit card payment. if i did my math right, cc payments are charged 2.9% + 30 cents. BAH ...

i guess i gotta tell the buyer to use a non CC payment

to answer some of your Q's. The ebay fee's accrue through the month i think and are billed to you directly. im not sure what the percentage that paypal takes, but usually if someone sends you payment via paypal its autmatically in your account, just withdrawing it takes the time.

Paypal is going to get their money, then worry about your part. I refuse to use paypal even as a buyer. Their policies are over the top as to the information the demand.

The reason============
I buy something and pay via paypal with a valid CC
payment accepted, get my stuff, deal done.
Paypal send me email that I must provide my CHECKING ACOUNT information or I may be denied access to purchase stuff through paypal.
When pigs fly will I give them that information. :|
still shop on ebay, but will never never give these jerks any personal information that they don't absoultly have to have to complete any purchase.

hrm thanks for the posts.

the ebay fees, im sure are seperate and billed at the end of the month, as mentioned. that' shouldn't be a problem because my list fees were less than 40 cents total.

still trying to find an answer to my paypal fee.
and how to tell if it was CC paypal

Im not sure about it telling you it was a CC payment, but I *think* it only tells you if you have the basic account where you dont get charged a fee. If you have the preimer or whatever account they keep a % and you can take CC payments, and I dont think it tells you if it is a CC payment anymore.

It should tell you if the transaction has cleared though however on your recent transaction page...
Paypal keeps certain percentages for up to different amounts, so what thye keep depends on how much you receive. Like from $50 they kept $1.75 of my money.

THIS DOES NOT include ebay fees, ebay feeswill be charged to the CC you listed with ebay at a certain point of the month. Ebay will also have ending fees associated with you amount that your auction ended that, similar to paypals sceme.

:frown: ahh well

i guess ill suck it up

just to let you know .. this is camera that i was selling in FS/FT .. didn't go to well . .so i hawked it on ebay =D

PayPal - Depending on what options / type of account you have with them: The fee is probably 2.9%+.30
Ebay - Charges your account which you pay monthly: Not sure about the fee

Just a reminder, if you are a seller and sell an item for over $250 (including shipping) make sure you get signature confirmation! For anything else < $250 then delivery confirmation will work, but most services have delivery confirmation (DHL, UPS, FedEx)

i think i found the answer on paypal's site

Can Personal accounts receive credit card payments?

No. In order to reduce the cost of processing expensive credit card transactions associated with accounts that do not pay fees, the ability to receive credit card payments is reserved for Premier and Business accounts.

Any credit card payment will be held as "Unclaimed" until the recipient accepts it by upgrading to a Business or Premier account, or denies it (if payment is denied, the funds will be returned to the sender's PayPal account).

Personal accounts may still accept non-credit card funded payments though limits will apply to certain payment types.

when i log into paypal .. the status says UNCLAIMED. So .. i guess it was a cc payment. gonna email the bidder

Yea must have been, you will need to upgrade, and then claim it, or claim it and it should ask youto upgrade at the same time.

On a similar note -
I just completed (Saturday) my first ebay transaction ever. Did a buy now. One of the pay options was Paypal credit card, which I did. I have emails from ebay saying that I have agreed to purchase the item and that I have paid the buyer using Paypal. Is there anything else I need to do except wait for the item? Does the seller contact me when the item is shipped? Hold my hand here, guys, feeling very vulnerable and virginish. 😱
