PayPal Question

I didn't have enough money in my PayPal to buy what I wanted on eBay, so I added my credit card (linked to parents bank account, not mine) I had $4.82 in Paypal, and I thought that my purchase would take the $4.82 in that, and use the credit card that I added as the backup.

After buying that, I receive a snail mail from TierOne saying that I withdrew too much money, and am now -$34.18 with a $20 charge on top of that. I thought that adding a CC would have that as a "backup" like it says on the site?

I hit the bank account one, because I thought that my CC would cover what my account didn't have?

Why be angry? You're the one that picked bank account as your backup source in your payment, not Paypal......they only do what you tell them.

If you're going to be angry at anyone, go look in a mirror and you found who to be pissed off at, but then again, it's always easier to blame someone else instead of admitting your own mistakes, isn't it?

that is what overdraft protection is for....no money, no problem....just pay a fee to cover the cost.

I'm not blaming PayPal for withdrawing my account, I'm angry that I didn't comprehend the concept.

Dont bother w/ their customer service, its fvcking horrible. I wanted to change my backup funding from one bank account to another but I kept getting a 404 page. I sent these fvckers several emails only to have them tell me HOW I can go about changing my backup funding. Needless to say, I've stopped using Paypal for recurring subscription.

Have you tried Google Checkout? What's that like?

Actually he picked the CC as a back up source.

But regardless, Paypal still won't know how much you have in your bank. I think the backup source is only used if somehow PP could not access your bank account.

There are horror stories if you have to do returns.

You are 100% correct. But ask to be fair, shouldn't it? If I attempt a draft against the other bank, wasn't it just too easy for them to allow it and charge him $20. Should't they have failed it (since he would be NSF)? This is just a bank scam and he just became the latest victim.
