Paypal premier account?

I just had to upgrade my account to Premier to accept a credit card payment. Do they charge a monthly fee for a "premier" account, or is it just transaction fees?

No monthly fee, but now whenver you get money, regardless of if it's from a credit card or not, they'll ding you as if it was. Nice "upgrade" eh?

You can downgrade only once per lifetime of your account. My advice is to make a seperate account that you take credit cards with.

i have had a premiere account for YEARS now. No probs with it but yes now anytime i am sent money CC or not, good or quasi-cash it doesn't matter they take a %. I also earn 5% for using my paypal card but in the end i only get back a small % of what they take from me. owell

Yeah, I had a business account with paypal for over 5 years and all it took was one false allegation against my account to have it closed with no explanation at all. I was also told that this decision was final with no recourse on my part... despite never being told what I was even accused of. Thankfully, I had a zero balance at the time. I am still talking with my lawyer friend about this... it seriously impacted my business.

Paypal sucks. Period.

I've always thought about making 2 accounts, but never really looked into it. What does one have to do to make a seperate, premier account? Have a 2nd checking account?

Ripped from Paypal's help section:

Q: Can I have a PayPal Personal and a Premier/Business Account?

A: PayPal allows members to have one Personal account and one Premier or Business account. However, each account must contain an unique email address, bank account and credit card.

They are only for the l33tist people on the web. Make sure you are l33t enough to have one before signing up.

Ive had two accounts since 2004. Works beautifully. You have to have two bank accounts though, but its no big deal.

Exactly what I do. List my personal account as the primary for sales, but if buyer wants to pay with CC I supply them with my premier.

This is why I always transfer funds out of my Paypal account within seconds of them being deposited if at all possible, also if those scumbags ever tried an unauthorized debit from my account becuase of "fraud" I'd charge-back so quickly it would make their heads spin.
