Paypal Premeir/Buisness or Personal?

Ok i've had several paypal accounts in the past w/ credit cards of mine for buying things off of ebay and websites. I never ran into any problems, im about to setup an account verified through my checkings account, and im curious to as if i should just do a personal account or something differnt? It looks as though they dont charge you anything on personal account, but does this create a limitation or something? Im not really getting it how they spell it out so i was hoping on of you AT'ers could help me out eh?

i thought their TOS only allowed 2 accounts per person, one personal and one premier/business

that is what i have, one is tied to my checking (the premier) to accept CC payments and the personal account is tied to my savings account to avoid the charge the put on the premier account

So is the Premeir one worth it? Do you lose alot?

i only use that to recieve payments when i have to. mainly i have people pay me on my personal account, unless the payment can't be made to it (ie debit or CC)

here is what the web page says

"PayPal charges Premier and Business accounts to receive payments. Personal accounts are free, but may not receive debit or credit card payments."

This is the best solution if you want to receive both credit card and non-cc Paypal payments.

There are two downsides to the no fee personal account:

• You are NOT by most Paypal protection policies.
• You are not able to accept credit card payments

If you have a Paypal Premier/Business account you will be charged fees for ALL incoming payments, regardless of source. So if someone sends you $100 from their Paypal account (not credit card) you will be charged fees which sucks. Most people get around this by having TWO Paypal accounts (one Personal and one Premier/Business).

Make sense?

Yes, thanks Ross Man. So most you guys just use personal to accecpt payments other than non cc?

That tweaked my nads when I found this out first hand. I didn't expect to get charged a fee for ALL payments when I upgraded to Premier, only the credit/debit card payments. DOH! There are lower receiving limits with the Personal account, also.

In addition, Ebay just announced a policy change. Sellers can no longer accept only non-credit/debit card payments, if they advertise PayPal as an accepted payment method. Further, sellers who have a Personal account and advertise PayPal as an accepted payment method must (not optional) be willing to upgrade to Premier account if a buyer wishes to pay using credit/debit card. If the seller refuses to upgrade, Ebay will take action for Seller Non-Performance.

Beginning August 19, 2005, all sellers who offer PayPal as a payment option for their eBay listings must accept all forms of PayPal payment. This includes payments made via PayPal account balances, bank accounts, or credit cards, regardless of whether sellers display the PayPal logo with credit card icons.

When the new policy takes effect, sellers who list with a PayPal Personal account may still receive payments funded via account balance or bank account transfers but must also be willing to upgrade to a PayPal Premier or Business Account if they receive a credit card payment via PayPal from their buyer.

Additionally, sellers may not communicate to eBay buyers (for example, in their item description) that they only accept, or will not accept, specific forms of PayPal payment. Doing so in a listing can lead to it being cancelled, and refusal to accept a payment after the auction has ended will constitute Seller Non-Performance.

So basically, Ebay is trying to force every seller to upgrade their account so Ebay can make more money.
