Paypal payment taking time to 'clear'?

Has anyone heard of a paypal payment taking time to 'clear' when money is sent from a bank account?

I know of course with a check there can be a time etc, but is this something that is applicable on paypal? I have never heard of it before... In this case, a payment that was sent out over the weekend says that it will take until today to clear.

Maybe the account is unconfirmed? I haven't heard of that, either. I know it takes time to show a payment on my bank account -- could that be it? Once it's reflected in my bank, it's cleared?

If you don't have a CC backup they have to do an e-check that takes about 4 days to clear, if you have the CC backup you can do an instant transfer which is instant.

its standard to take 2-3 business days for online transfers to do through...

idk if there are any intermediaries between bank and paypal like there would be with a check
