I need some advice here...

I recently sold a Dell Axim on ebay. Even though my auction said UNITED STATES only under shipping. A Germany ebay member still bid and won.

So now I have his paypal payment and I have to decide. REFUND or ACCEPT and ship him the axim.

I've shipped to unconfirmed address's before for little items but this is $300.

The buyer also wants me to ship the AXIM to a APO address. What exactly is that? I have shipped to germany before but I know I could face a chargeback and be out $300 + the axim x3i.

There are two reasons I am even considering this.

1) he has great ebay feedback of (195)

2) I need the money and don't want to relist etc etc. and then have to fight ebay to not charge me for this auction...

This is why I HATE ebay......

dont take the chance. refun, relist, be safe. feedback means sh!t on ebay. If you have a bad feeling about a deal then dont do it. If they are to retarded to see that it says us only than you shouldnt be dealing with them.

Yeah, relist. I don't think that eBay itself is what sucks, I think its just that there are so many idiots on it.

Disregard, if it is for an APO then I'm sure it's safe.

When I say never sell to anyone outside the US I'm mainly talking about eBay. That place is just infested with scammers. Why take the risk when you can re-list it and sell it for the same price to someone in the US? It may take a few more days but I think a day or two is worth more than losing a) your Axim, and b) your Paypal funds.

Actually, I believe that an APO address is pretty much the same thing as a US address since it all goes to a place down in Miami (?) and the military handles it from there.

Like the other poster said, better safe than sorry. Why not have them pay you with something like bidpay if you are suspicious?

I do a lot of sales with overseas bidders/sellers and rarely have a problem, usually in shipping taking longer than expected. You just have to be smart about it. Works for me though, I get extra bids cause I'm willing to ship international;)

APO is army post office. It's probably a service member over seas. Cut the guy some slack and ship it.

APO's are military addresses, the ebayer is probably just stationed in germany, but the APO is in the US

Actually it is ebay that sucks. This would never happened IF...

ebay could make it so international bidders weren't allowed to bid on items that
won't be shipped overseas.

ie. US only auction.. only US members should be allowed to bid at all..

its simple to me really..

now i have to refund, relist, and file with ebay for them not to charge me for the auction fees.. such a hassle.

thanks! I knew the guy was legit unless someone hijacked his account. he has far too much feedback to be a scammer...

but you never know these days..

this guy emailed one of my auction winners the other week. and tried to get my winner to pay him instead! It was for a $500 item so he was out to make a QUICK $500 and screw my bidder over..

Keep in mind APO residents can have their address confirmed by paypal so there's no excuse here for being unconfirmed. And don't rule out a scam just because it is APO either -- there are tons of documented cases out there of such activities.

give him your phone number and ask him to give you a call...

then when he's on the phone ask him if it's okay if you take like, 10 days for the paypal payment to be settle...

or you could try contacting paypal and see if they can check up on the payment before you accept... make sure the account isn't hijacked... etc..

or contact sellers from previous auctions and see if they can tell you more than their feedback did... like did they pay with the same paypal account, etc.
