PayPal = Not so bad!

I had purchased some side markers for the 73 bus here. Paid with PayPal immediately.

10 days later no product, no response to emails or eBay "contact seller" or anything like that. I try to contact the seller for a few more days, then file fraud alert with eBay and PayPal. I also requested the phone number for the seller, and it turns out that the seller is in Mexico. :|

Anyway, PayPal refunded my $$ no problem. This seller sells like a hundred items a day so may get seriously dinged if PayPal locks 'em down.

The bastages also left me negative feedback... A bunch of ???'s of all things.

All you ever see are PayPal bashing posts, so thought I'd post something that worked out.

 for PayPal in this deal!

good to see positive posts. people are too lazy to put down positive things and negative things are easier to say cuz people like to rant

The problem with paypal is that it GREATLY protects buyers, but does nothing to protect sellers. I've gotten screwed twice where someone canceled/denied the charge, when I had emails/receipts/delivery/insurance proving they recieved the item, etc.

This is funny. All day, only two replies, and one of them is bashing PayPal.

Look, I agree that the PayPal system really exposes sellers to risk. But would you rather have to pay for a merchant account and take credit cards?

Why are you surprised they're in Mexico? It says so in the seller information box.

Member since Oct-04-02 in Mexico

It didn't show Mexico when I initially bid. I raised a bit of h3ll with eBay about that, they may have made the seller show Mexico instead of whatever was there before.

Yes I rather use a merchant account. I don't want to deal with bunch of high school kids / junkies and get screwed by PayPal. Add insurance to your merchant account and if you dispute charges, I will see you in court.

<<---- used to be PayPal fan as well, until he got SCREWED OVER like a virgin sweet boi in "Pound Me In the Ass" prison.

I put 800 in my paypal account and just left it there. It's great because I can just go on ebay and buy anything I want pretty quickly. It is also nice for donating every once in awhile.

I've only used it once and it worked out well for me. 😀

I will certainly be as careful as possible in the future and don't see myself using it extensively.

Youre of Mexican descent. Why should it bother you that they are in Mexico? When shipping internationally it takes at least 10 days to deliver. I shipped something to Canada and it took 10 days.

Chill out.:brokenheart:

"AVOID! Seller in Mexico. No product. No communication. AVOID!!!!"

Lol...What does it have to do with the seller in Mexico...BTW that's from the E-bay heatware he left on the guy. I think it was lame that the guy left you a negative feedback. *Shrugs* Not much you can do about it. Good thing you got your money back though.

People in Mexico are harder to track down if you want to try something like that (for instance, on a high-priced item or the like)

People with no paypal problems tend to be buyers only. There is very little risk to buyers (other than paypal *deciding* your high risk and freezing up a bunch of $$$). The biggest risk is to sellers.

That's what I'm talking about. Plus, I don't know if I'm dialing the equivalent of a 900 number in Mexico. Plus, if I'd known the seller was in Mexico, I wouldn't have bid on these easily found elsewhere items.

As for only buyers are happy, I do a lot of both. Here, and on eBay. Again, no problems.

Of course, there are some things you can do to help protect yourself. Link to a checking account that you don't keep $$ in. Don't give them a CC# or give them the debit number to your same checking account. Etc...
