Hi capybara,

Thanks for the kind words-let's see if I can help.

paypalDamon: thanx for answering our questions here.
please stay + enjoy anandtech. Yes, some people are
unhappy w PP, but it works 99% of the time. Question:
if i sell something, and it is paid by paypal by
credit card.

1) am i notified that the payment was by
credit card and not by other means? (Yes, and you can also set your preferences if you are a Premier/Business account member to accept only certain types of payments. You should be able to view the funding method by clicking on the transaction in question)

2) will waiting
3 days bewfore shipping an item protect from MOST
credit card fraud, as ActiveX suggested?
(There are generally some clues to indicate possible fraud, but shipping is up to the seller in this case. Some quick tips--payments from multiple email addresses for the same item, shipping to a country not on our list, or the user asking for overnight delivery. Not all cases are going to be fraudulent, but these are potential clues and a viable user should not be upset if additional information is requested.)
3) seller
protection - please explain it. Someone victimized by
credit card fraud got a PP response they had no
"seller protection." Thanx for your help. =) Capybara
(Criteria can be viewed on the web site and I had posted it here earlier, but here are the basics...
1. Must be verified.
2. Overseas transactions are not protected.
3. Shipping documentation must be trackable on-line.
4. Must not accept multiple payments from different users for the same item.

Hi izzzy12k,

Did you follow all of the rules posted about the program? If all of this information matches and you provided the information it may be just a matter of getting to your case.

Hi Yo Ma-Ma,

No, giving us access to your bank account routing transit number and bank account number does not give us the right to pull it via an ach transaction if there is a debt. However, if you have a credit/debit card on file and there is a debt, the terms of use do state that these may be charged. Any action that would take place would entail notifying the user before said action was taken.
