Well with this PayPal bank transfer limit a month of $500 I was considering lifting it. Since I'm doing quite a bit of business on Ebay, I will need more then this.

One of the options they give you is putting in your social security number. Now why would PayPal need my social security number in order for me to transfer more money?

Oh to make sure I'm a good boy and not laundering money, or something, hehe

Hmm I wonder if putting in SS# can backfire on me?

Any thoughts or real personal experiences from this, and I know about PayPal being the devil, so I don't need to hear it, I just want to hear real facts please.

They probably ask for your SS just to able to stake a claim on your credit rating should anything go bad.

It could also be so that, if they notice a stupendous amount of activity on your account, like you receiving thousands of dollars per month in payments, that they can send a report to the IRS. Remember, you are responsible for reporting any and all income, and I'm sure in the past there's been plenty of people on ebay, using paypal, that "forgot" to report some of their income.
