i'm not a big fan of paypal, hardly use it. sold a expensive item on ebay for $1000 -- the buyer wants to pay with paypal only.

been reading about fraud scams where the buyer pays with paypal and the seller gets his money, ships the item and 2 months later there is a chargeback to the seller cause the buyer used a stolen credit card.

my seller is in the u.s, not Nigeria or one of those known scam countries.

so my question is, am i safe with paypal or will i get screwed by them down the road, if the buyer used a stolen cc ? - i have no way of knowing.

thanks!!

Scary. I would let your parents handle your allowance.

ive never had a bad experience with paypal during the last 3 years I have been using it, however, my most expensive item was ~$400, not a grand

For something this expensive, it would scare me a bit. Personally, I'd complete the sale, withdraw the money from paypal, then close any accounts I had listed with them.

1) Paypal WILL screw you (I've personally never had a problem).

2) Paypal will side with the buyer not the seller, so once again you're screwed.

3) Only ship to a Paypal confirmed address within the USA, not a PO Box. No exceptions.

4) Only ship via courier such as FedEx, UPS, DHL with adult signature required.

5) It pays to be paranoid unless you don't mind losing $1,000

Not to mention the loss in Paypal fees. Tell the guy to do a USPS money order.

Just b/c you're shipping in the US doesn't mean it's not a scam!

I've heard of people that have 'drop-off's' in the states that they give a cut to for shipping them the items or whatever. So...be wise. Be sure its verified, and ship ONLY to the paypal address listed and hope for the best.

Also, maybe try to get a phone number to verify, i dunno. Ebay itself is sketchy at times, lol.

How popular is Google Checkout as a payment option on eBay?

Last I checked, ebay won't allow it. They gave the reason of it being unproven or something like that, but the fact that they own paypal...

WTF eBay owns Paypal, Skype and 25% of Craigslist.org

/me waits for them to buy neffing.com for a record $10,000,0000,000.00
