I accepted the Premiere account upgrade recently just to see what the services were like but now want to return back to a normal account since I'm getting 3% charged per ALL transactions.

There is of course NOTHING on paypal's site that clearly indicates how to change your account back (or its at least very well hidden). Any clues?

I called them up and did it. They really rubbed me the wrong way about it though, saying you could only switch back ONCE AND NEVER AGAIN. So if you decide to upgrade again, you couldn't downgrade back again. Maybe they changed this rule, but that's what the lady told me on the phone (about 8-10 months ago).

Right, which is why you make 2 accounts; 1 for credit card payments, 1 for non-cc.

Thank you for contacting PayPal.

We appreciate that you have tried our PayPal Business/Premier Account.
Per your request, your PayPal Account has been downgraded from a
Business/Premier to a Personal Account. Please note that with a
Personal Account, you will no longer be able to receive credit card
funded payments.

You are only permitted to downgrade from a Business/Premier Account to
a Personal Account one time. If you would like to upgrade your account
to a Business/Premier Account in the future, it will remain a
Business/Premier Account for the lifetime of the account.

Please note if you receive a credit card payment to your Personal
Account, you will be given the choice to accept or deny the payment. If
you accept the payment, your Personal Account will be upgraded to a
Premier Account. You also have the option to deny the payment and
request a payment from the buyer's PayPal balance or an eCheck.

*There are no fee adjustments or refunds on payments received as a
Business/Premier Account.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us
again.

Sincerely,
Loretta

Loretta (and automated reply),

As if its so difficult to push a button and switch the status of the
account. Because of your "one time only" punishment, many users I've
talked to simply hold two accounts in your system, one personal, one
premier.

If you offered an account that could accept credit card transactions @ 3%,
and still have free transactions between bank accounts / paypal accounts,
this wouldn't be a problem.
