if you were scamed on ebay 9/10 the person has emptied his account and ran before the first complaint is filed. What should be done is some kind of system where the money is in the sellers account but won't be released till the buyer gives the ok that everything is fine.

Yes, escrow, also defeats the pupose and involves more hands in the till to ensure all is well.

I agree

and in July ebay is going to completely ruin half.com by forcing all users to use paypal.

I don't like the fact that paypal has withdrawal access to your bank account and can lock money in your paypal account at will.

I think ebay/paypal has way too much power in the retail process. They are a monopoloy in the online-auction market and now they want a monopoly in the way payments are made.

Paypal needs to be regulated like a bank and follow GAAP.

Yes, when I used to Ebay a great deal, it was quite obvious that the rules (and rulings of the Ebay and Paypal grand councils) were definitely lopsided in favor of sellers.

Obviously, because if you get a buyer angry, Ebay/Paypal lost nothing (no fees for buying), but if you lost a buyer, they lose the commission of potentially hundreds of sales.
