paypal "expanded use fee"

Senior member
so i'm trying to send money through paypal credit card and get prompted to okay a charge for "expanded use fee"??????

is there any reason not to do this? will they try to hit you with quarterly/yearly fees in the future?

what does this fee do? don't they explain it to you?

and no, off the bat, i would not pay extra for any paypal perks or services.

from what i could gather, they charge you $1.95.

on the creditcard bill there will be a 4 digit number associated with the paypal charge. you are suppose to enter those 4 numbers at their website to verify that you are the owner of the credit card. at 1 place on website they say fee will be credited back to your account. at another place they say it's at their discretion depending on low activity.

it sounds fishy to me. other thing is that they call is "expanded use program". "program" makes it sound like some sort of subscription.

i think this is all b.s.

lastly, paypal says you're suppose to check for the 4 digit code online or wait for paper statement. you're not suppose to call credit card company for code. paypal says that if they get complaint for you calling, they will close your account. this to me, makes me think that what they're doing is in violation of their contract with the credit card companies...

i use my CC on paypal all the time and have never been charged this wack fee or any other fees.

Are you sure you didn't click on any paypal email look-alikes?
