I won an auction on ebay last night and i am paying through paypal. Everything seemed to go through normally.

I look today and its showing that my payment is uncleared. I'm like wtf? so i look further and it says echeck and it won't clear until 6/30.

I can't see any way to cancel this and try to run it through as a normal instant payment.

anyone ever run into this?

That happened to me once when I removed my credit card info from paypal. Instead of sending the seller a regular paypal payment it sent an echeck instead.

Paypal tries to default to the following payment methods

1. PP Balance
2. Bank account
3. CC

99.9% of the time it will try to use your bank account unless you switch it to CC (probably second to last screen before "make payment")

I don't think you can cancel it but don't quote me on that.

Why are you going WTF for? Only you know what payment method you used to pay for the auction. If you don't have any funds in your PP acct., PP will request fund from your checking acct. and issue an echeck to the buyer. http://www.kreationsbykittyo.com/echeck.htm

No I never run into this because I use my credit card for ebay payments.

i normally use my bank account. cc is supposed to be 2nd (which is still active or whatever on paypal). i have plenty of funds in my bank account. there is no reason for it to use an echeck.

If you don't have a CC listed with paypal, or the CC got renewed but you didn't put your new expiration date in, then it will only do echecks when paying with your bank account. Instant transfer from the bank account requires a valid credit card as a backup funding source.
