Paypal disputes (as a buyer)?

Bought something 6 weeks ago from a seller, he never shipped. Told me multiple times he would but never came through. The minute I open a dispute (last possible day) he rushes to the p.o. to get the item in the mail. At this point I'd rather just have my money back.

Can I refuse the package and still get my money back or do I just have to accept the package?

If you never receive the item, then paypal technically should give you the money back. Whether or not you refuse the item to not receive it is another story.

Sellers are usually in the clear as far as shipping the item once tracking/confirmation is provided to paypal. The next step is actually receiving the item. You can always receive it, claim the item is broken/not as described and go through the dispute process from there.

AFAIK Paypal almost always sides with the buyer. That's why I only sell to reviewed/trusted individuals when having to use it.

did you pay with a credit card through paypal? a phone call to your credit card issuer will give you back a refund in a few minutes and case closed.

I see. I have read on a few places that if I refuse it, I am in the clear. The seller is being a jackass about the whole process. I would rather just have the cash than deal with claiming the item is broken/incorrect and then going from there. Thank you much!

No; paid with available funds 😳

I don't know if "return to sender" is free on unclaimed packages.

It is but that's not my problem. Fuck him. I already gave him six weeks to put the item in the mail and I'm fed up with his nonsense.

That's also a great way to get your paypal account locked/banned and any funds you have in it will never be available to you, ever. It's also a great way to have paypal send you to a collections agency and have you deal with them (rightfully or wrongfully) to get that shit taken care of. Paypal HATES chargebacks with a passion.

Then just don't accept the package and tell him what you are doing and why.
He at least needs to know what you are doing.

Already did and he threw an absolute SHITFIT. He claims he has been very communicative and that this is unacceptable but ehhhhhhhh six goddamn weeks. That's unacceptable in my eyes.

Rather than getting upset about his slow delivery, think about it this way ... disregarding the slow delivery, do you still want the item? If so, accept delivery and move on. I wouldn't let my emotions deter me from enjoying a new purchase.

Agreed, especially if it results in mudslinging (bad reviews from you & him).

Six weeks is a long time though. If I don't ship an item same day (rare) I get in touch with the buyer and let him know it's going out tomorrow.

Communication is key.

Actually paypal will not care in the least in regards to the buyer. They will, however, immediately remove those funds from the seller's account.

As a buyer you are extremely protected. As a seller, not so much.
