Paypal cheated me

I know everyone will say that I shouldn't have been bidding on Yahoo auctions, but I got ripped off by a seller on there. The point is I diputed with Paypal, they got me back less than half of my money. Now I have taken it to the credit card company, does anyone have any experience with this situation? WIll the credit card refund me? Its capitalone by the way.

Why is it PayPal's fault the guy you bought from ripped you off?

It becomes their fault after the amount of unresolved complaints goes into the thousands, and yet they continually do nothing.

Phew so someone has got their money back through credit card disputes. I was definitely worried. And it is paypal's responsibility when he is a verified member, which they list as a "safe" seller. They listed a pending refund for ten days of the full amount then turned around and refunded me less than half and said oh well sorry. If you are going to let someone do transactions through your company you better be ready to take responsiblity for whatever scams they might pull.

Would you blame WesternUnion if you sent someone in the Ukraine a $500 MO for a laptop worth $2000?

So paypal is now responsible for the stupidity of their users?

Agreed to a point.

Comparing Western Union to Paypal is like comparing Apples to Bears.

Why?

I'm not a PayPal fanboy by any means, but I'm sick of people blaming PayPal for not magically putting money in their accounts, or protecting id10ts from themselves.

Have you ever bothered to read some of the problems people have had with Paypal? Go educate yourself before you try to comment on something you have no clue about.

I think he's complaining that paypal does nothing for you. They don't help you out that much when you have a dispute against a seller. Paypal will actually give you the run around instead of putting all their effort into solving the problem.

The idiots over at PayPal stand behind their "policy" and refuse to acknowledge the fact that there are sometimes unusual cases that don't fit entirely under the letter of the law. Inevitably when a "call" needs to be made, it's in PayPal's favor, and fvck the customer.

This is unfortunately symptomatic of today's society - don't worry about screwing this one guy, because in the grand scheme of things he doesn't matter. All powerfull eBay and PayPal will have PLENTY of happy customers so all is good.

I got screwed, but it would have cost me too much to get my money back, and PayPal knows it. So what do they care.

They only joy I can get out of the situation is the knowledge that I'm only out a couple hundred, and that I've learned from my mistake, and that I will NEVER eBay/PayPal again. And that I've got a better job and make more money than that dick over in customer service ever will.

Bingo. This is what I was saying Viper.... I know people will still be scammed... it is the nature of busines. It will happen one way or another.

BUT, in paypal's case they aren't a "bank" and so they have no responsibilities like real banks have... so they weasle out of helping people with problems, and still have the nerve to say some Paypaler's are "safe" and offer "protection".

In THIS case, the comparison to Western Union was warranted. What do you think WesternUnion would do if you asked for a refund because the person didn't ship your item to you? Laugh in your face probably. You're dealing with another individual, PayPal only provides the mechanism to transmit the money.
