Payday 2

Couldn't find a dedicated thread on this game, and I know its been out a year or so now but man is this game addicting. I like the fact that Overkill keeps the DLCs coming and is always working on the game adding new things and improving on what they built.

They just updated with a new female heister and a new map called The Diamond. If your into heist type games, this is a fun 4 person coop game that to me never gets old. Check it out, its on sale right now on steam.

The progression pacing could be better, but getting enough skill points to be useful is pretty quick. At the top end there's plenty of ways to customize playstyle and good replayability. Multiplayer is the way to go, obviously best with friends, however pubs are pretty decent. Overall it's a good co-op shooter with no zombies.

I have my eye on it. Looking at the GOTY edition I can't tell which DLCs are worth it and which are not. Steam shows the free DLCs as $40 but doesn't add them in the total. If GOTY drops to $20, I'll snag it. Friends and I had a blast with PAYDAY for free, even splurged $1.50 for a DLC.

Only the host needs to own the Heist DLCs. You don't need to buy them to join a lobby. If you have a group of friends you can use that to your advantage. The weapons packs that give the biggest change in gameplay are the sniper, shotgun, and mod courier packs.

Most of the DLCs are worthwhile. Overkill releases one free DLC for every paid DLC. I've never seen a game so well supported in my life.

That said, I'm kinda burned out on it. I've played some of the missions hundreds of times. When I'm sitting there, waiting for a drill to finish during a stealth heist, I ponder what I'm doing with my life.

I just bought it, maybe people on here want to make a clan? I played the 1st Payday some, but never really online. would like to play with the same people instead of jumping around server to server

I only played single player and hated it. I tried to like it. The AI bots don't seem to be "complete" in their programming. They will not grab any loot or anything. So most of the missions where you can only pick up one item at a time and then get to the car(but need a total of 4 items).. you gotta run back and forth. With infinite spawning police, this is ridiculous.

It's almost as if they intended it to be played with other people.

Yeah, a heads up incase you didn't already learn,. single player is pretty boring unless your an achievement whore like myself and pubs keep screwing up missions for you. AI are worthless, I always turn them off when Im playing alone because especially in Stealth, they just stand around and don't do anything.

I bought this game last Steam Summer sale and a few DLCs,.. since then I have them all and I don't mind dishing out another $5 or so everytime a new one comes out. They are all worth it to me, and keeps me coming back for more.

It does take time, and its best to learn from someone who is experienced to help you along. Getting to know your skills, perks, and what works for gun combos helps as well. Yes, different skills effects different weapons as well as the gun mods. This is where taking the time and reading the Steam guides really helps.

If anyone is interested in playing with me, my steam name is The Collector.

Picked it up today on the Franchise sale. Debating which DLCs I want.

-Big bank
-Armored car
-Hotline Miami
-Sniper

Any thoughts?

You can play DLC heists w/o buying them. Just jump in a lobby hosted by someone else. Give them a shot and see if you like them.

Sniper and shotgun packs change up the combat gameplay a lot, recommended. The Courier Mod pack also helps a lot with optimizing your guns.

Courier pack mod is a must. Allows you to pick up packages in missions which in turn gives you better chance at getting mods.

Honestly, I would get all the DLC except the last two since they're each $1.25-$1.75 (so maybe $12 total)

Hotline Miami a lot of people still play. The Big Bank and Armored Car ones not many lobbies are up at the times I play anymore, other then the computer generated community ones. The Big Bank is that,.. its really to big and unless you have a really good experienced crew your gonna be on that mission for a long time. Armored car heists take a while as well unless your entire crew have C4 and quick lock picking skills and/or saws. Its nice that you can carry a saw as either a primary or secondary now as well.
Sniper one is okay, only real sniper rifle I have ever used is the Thantos and thats really just to take down shields and bulldozers. 2 shots with it and a bulldozer is dead.

Hoxton breakout is fun as well, but I really like the latest, the heist the Diamond. Like it was said above though, not much reason to buy it just yet because everyone is still playing them a lot and there are a lot of lobbies to choose from. Its also one that you better have people with mics though, especially if your playing it on deathwish or overkill. The last room where the diamond is has a puzzle, and it takes 2 people to complete when on overkill or deathwish because it resets like every 40 seconds. So you can't write it down like with Hard or normal then run through it solo. That is unless you have a good memory, which I do not have. 🙂 It can be done going loud,.. but its a non stop rush of enemies and can be a real bear on deathwish.

Also, yes, as others have said courier mod is a must if your starting out. It will build up extra mods for your guns so you won't have to spend your hard earned (stolen) money. Just run around the maps looking for packages and in no time you will have a ton of extras. Once you learn the maps you know where they spawn and its easy loot.

Anyone been playing the Spring Break stuff?

I really hope that van turret isn't permanent that thing is insane OP, if you go solo and loud you can count the AI out.

This game was fun for the first few hours on easy difficulty but it gets really dumb when you play it on hard. I don't like how they ramp up the difficulty by making police basically bullet-proof armored mechs from the year 3000.

Does everyone need the courier DLC? Got 4 guys I'll run with.

I thought easy was more than enough.

Still amazed these dinky little towns have literally hundreds of cops within 5 minutes of any bank. Also amazed that guys who lug in giant drills cant carry more than a couple zip ties.
