Payday 2 does not impress, so far.

It just feels like counterstrike but with a few more gadgets. And civilians getting in the way.

You only take 2 zip ties even though you know damn well theres gonna be 20 people standing around.

A hundred patrolmen arrive in 30 seconds. Several SWAT vans arrive in one minute. I wish I lived in a town that was this well patrolled.

Your drill always breaks multiple times. Why would you even bring something that unreliable?
You cant steal a car and your driver ALWAYS flees like a little bitch when you need him the most.

You can't force civilians to do anything except get down, and they never listen for more than 20 seconds. If you pistol whip them once they die instantly and that deducts more money than you will ever actually make.
The cops are actually better at stealing away your loot than you are at acquiring it.

What else? The lens flare and other annoyances cant be turned off.

You lose most of your money to on offshore account. Does anybody know what thats for? Why dont they just show you what you will keep instead of what you will make?

Huh, almost pounced on this one yesterday. Glad I held off; sounds kind of annoying.

Dont take my word for it. Download and play for free this weekend.
Maybe you will find you dont agree with my opinion.

Also, do it for the MP.
Its already been officially announced by the devs that this game was never designed for SP. They only included it so you can practice and get a feel for the levels. But you wont be completing too many missions solo or with the horrible AI helpers.

Ah ok, I did not realize it was free this weekend. I will do that when I get home.

ok, I am not liking the small bank mission.

You need both keycards, one from a manager, one from a random teller. But you arent allowed the grab anyone until you put on your mask. If you do that you got like maybe 10 seconds before the cameras see you, then they activate the alarm and the keycards become useless, you have to drill.
The drill takes 6 whole minutes and breaks twice.
In that time you have to deal with literally hundreds of patrolmen and SWAT.
THEN, you have to pick or blast the little bank boxes inside the vault, that takes even more time.
We keep getting killed before then.

Our team can never get its shit together to swap the cards and use them immediately.

I enjoy the first Payday more then the 2nd one. I feel like the second one lost a lot of the run and gun fun the first one had in an attempt at more "realism" except it's not even kind of realistic.

It reminded me of Heat.
Which is to say crime doesnt pay, and robbing a bank will likely get your head blown off.

I tried it during the last free weekend, and I agree with most of your complaints. The hostages seem like they'd LOVE to get shot. The lack of restraint materials is moronic. The shooting's sketchy, like Counter-Strike. The realism and basic logic is poor.

I think my biggest issue is the game is being advertised like its Rainbow Six or S.W.A.T. but its really closer to CS, and not quite as good.

In fact I think some people have done CS mods that are actually better crime games.

I haven't seen any advertisements for it, not that I recall. The only way I feel that this resembles C-S is the excessively-inaccurate shooting.

that doesnt bother me. I been to the gun range and rented hi-tech modern rifles. Believe me, they arent as awesome as civilians believe. And thats when you're calm, mellow, and can take the time to close one eye and hold your breath.

You'd be amazed how hard shooting is when your blood is racing and everyone screams around you.

You've made this game sound so horrible that I now want to try it to prove you wrong.

Can't be worse than Dark Souls. Everything you've described is how I felt about darksouls (The difficulty ramping on that game was horrible. Not that the game was ever difficult in any spot, but that the game considered instant death scenarios, robbing you of the ability to fight back, putting you with 0 vision, etc. as ways of difficulty ramping.)

Edit: Seems like a game more fun to play with people as it's a coop game.

Firstly, you're very right on that last point. If you're playing Payday with friends, it's probably significantly better. However, that's a negative for the game, in my opinion, as I want something I can fire up and play whenever. I don't like having to plan game nights to enjoy something.

The other part of this is in favor of the OP, though. The general logic is just silly, in the name of giving you something to do. You're supposed to tie up hostages, but you only have a couple of zip ties for the two dozen or so people. Your drill breaks multiple times, for whatever reason. The cops are very formulaic in their activities, IMO. It just seems like a group of friends decided to casually rob a band with masks, with little preparation.

The gameplay's not necessarily terrible, it's just that every little thing that makes up the game seems to be done awkwardly, and those several things drag the game down.

I guess I should explain a little further. It's not that I expect everything to be as accurate as CoD or anything. It's that firing a gun often feels like it's 100% based on RNG, with no consideration as to your firing style or aiming. I've been in matches where I was within 10 feet, and none of the dozen or so tap-fired bullets I shot did damage, yet the fully-auto firing from my opponent ripped through me.

I'm not a spray-and-pray person, not even in CoD. I shoot either in bursts or with single bullets. It's like C-S:GO took the Target Assist in console CoD and put it in reverse--I swear, it's like they try to get the bullets to aim AWAY from enemies at times.

Like I said, I would have preferred a Rainbow Six clone. Real planning, people who START with proper skills instead of having to buy them, and decent equipment. Only fools rob a bank with one crappy drill and no gadgets. And it takes so damn long to build up money and buy the good stuff I honestly dont know how you are supposed to jump that initial difficulty curve.

Played this for several hours on the weekend, but I honestly found it kind of tiresome. Felt like we could not do anything to avoid getting swarmed by a crap tonne of cops. You are usually just sitting there waiting for the stupid drill to finish and getting shot at constantly, or just taking bags from this part of the building, to this other part of the building, while being shot at constantly. Felt far too repetitive.

I am totally with you on the money thing too; what is the deal with most of your money going offshore? Is that something that comes into play later? Is that the ultimate goal, to build that up to a certain amount so you can retire?

Anyway, was fun for a bit, but I can't really see myself buying it.
