Are there any sites these days that allow you to pay a fee to download MP3's? Sites that are technically legal. I guess Napster will be doing this in some way soon, but are there others that are already doing it?

Thanks :)

Have you tried Morpheus yet? It's gui is different from Napster but there's lots more there and it's not just mp3's either. Check it out!

Right now I wouldn't pay for mp3s. Look at the "selection" at emusic. The only reason i know of that place was the $50 nomad II's and the 99 cent headphones promos they had.

But, if every album ever made can be provided in mp3, in high quality, from the record companies, then its worth a shot. 25 cents a track sounds fair enough to me, with the rights to get that mp3 for life for free.

Oh man, I agree whole heartedly. When Napster was at its peak, I was getting 50-100/day of mixes I've never heard from my favorite DJs and producers which are OOP and import only. It's really a shame that it had to go down like it did. Morpheus is pretty good, but this fiasco with leaving port 1214 open makes me afraid to use it.

What about winmx? I tried it last night, it was pretty neat. And, you can download other file types, not just mp3's. ;):Q

KaZaA is what I use, it have everything from vids to MP3s to wavs to pics. :D

The only thing i have found that it does not have are Country Music Videos. I watched a few good ones on CMT the other day and wanted to get my hands on a copy.

I would never pay to download MP3's. I pay for them the way it is when I buy the CD's of the good stuff I download.

TechTV said that Kazaa was going to become a pay site down the road.
I can't see it (or Napster) becoming financially successful. People will not pay
if there are alternatives (other peer-to-peers, FTP, etc.)
Besides who even knows if you will be able to "buy" good quality ripped MP3's (160+ or VBR).
What if your wife accidentally deletes your "paid for" MP3's or your hard drive crashes, can
you d/l another copy?
