Pawning a computer

Will most pawn shops let you do this? How much on the dollar will you get, and what are the standard terms?

No matter what is in the system, you will get exactly $25. Terms are 30 days, usually. If you don't pay them back the $25, plus interest and tax within 30 days, they sell your rig.

Dont' do it. They will open up the rig, remove everything, then claim it was like that. Dont' do it.

In that case, I'll give you $30.

crap... I need to make rent after losing my job. I'm about to start my new one, but until then... well, my landlord isnt cutting me any slack. Any tips on what would be worth while pawning, or how to get $450 in 3 days? I think if I eBay it with a really short auction I'm going to get shafted on the price, plus I cant get it back

Wow man, I don't know what to say. Pawn shops are the biggest screw around. You could take them a $5K Rolex and they'd give you $100 for it. Sorry, man. Good luck!!!

Do you have a lease? What are the terms of the lease AFA rent payments/late fees/eviction goes?

I would sell it locally in the paper. Much quicker, no shipping fees or other crap. You can get your money quickly as well. You don't have any CC's to cash advance? No one you can borrow from?

Any parents, siblings or grandparents that could help? What about a quick student loan? What kind of credit do you have? You might be able to get a credit card number online through an instant app and use the number to get a cash advance. Do you have paypal? Shoot me a PM real quick.

title loan place. do you own your car?

a decent ( dunno how i can say decent ) title loan place will charge you
20% interest. So for $450 you will have to repay $550 in 30days otherwise
the interest will build more.

No car

sorry to hear about your situation, but yeah, your computer isn't going to get you what you need if you need to sell it fast, and you'll hate yourself for it later...you must have at least ONE friend that has money to spot you. We're (college students) not all that poor. If I knew you, I'd spot you...make you feel better? 🙂

But why did you wait til the last minute? $450 isn't that hard to scrounge up, given appropriate time.

so take everything out of it yourself, then pawn it.

i wonder why no one has offered a very simple solution.

1. $500 is not that much.
2. you WILL have a new job in a few days.

Why don't you go to a local bank and get a loan? Provided you supply documentation of impending employment, I am sure it won't be that hard to get a loan

1. $500 is quite a bit of money when you need it in three days and don't have a good way to get it.

2. How do you know that?

A bank isn't going to lend a college kid $500 without collateral (car, etc), especially if he isn't working.

I dont think they'll give out a loan of the basis of future employment. I could try if necessary, but I would guess that they dont on the basis of the existence of those "payday loan" places...
