Pavilion 8760 CD Burner Problems

I am having problems with my HP computer and burning CD's. It keeps telling me that there isn't enough space on the CD or that the CD is bad. However, the CD's are good (they work in other computers) and the burner always burns the first CD after it is uninstalled and reinstalled. At that point it craps out. I know it is not the burner as I replaced the burner with a new one and it did not work either. I also tried 3 or 4 different burning programs all to no avail. The machine originally ran WinMe but is now running a clean install of XP. It's got 384MB of RAM and plenty of hard drive space. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on here? Thanks.
