wow, sad to hear.
think i am a tad older then most of the members here. I must say i am also shocked that i did not see this on BluesNews. I still read that site pretty much everyday since the quake1 days. (edit: was on bluesnews, doh)
I wish i could remember the name of his bi-weekly column on modeling. He took the time to create tutorials for would be future model artists. Hosted by one of the old quake sites. I can't even draw a half decent stick man, but i tuned in for each lesson, just to see how it's accomplished.
He was also an active poster/helper on polycount, a site dedicated to making models.
I recall a rant of one of polycount members on the forum, it was of his opinion that the movements of the player models in quake 2 was done very poorly. How he could have done so much better if he worked for id..... He had examples of his own work, and suggestions on how it could be better.
I know nothing of creating player models, but i replied anyhow. I simply suggested that he email Paul about his ideas. But without all the negative views on his work.
When i checked back a few days later, Paul Steed had joined in on the topic/post. Majority of posts was the two of them talking about models. But friendly, exchanging ideas.
I thought that was good of him, some forum guy bashing his work. He joined in and simply explained why this, why that. Examples and all. I read every post in that topic, still can't draw a stick man any better hahha.
