To add to the chaos in Iraq and further complicate the situation for George W. Bush, US civilian administrator in Baghdad, Paul Bremer, disappeared from his security compound this morning and no news was available on his whereabouts until early afternoon when a group of disgruntled US marines who had no idea why they were there, announced they'd taken him hostage.

They said, increasing instability in Iraq, worry about being attacked with a weapon of mass destruction, and escalating concern among US troops and their families about their safety has led them to take this desperate measure of kidnapping Mr Bremer. It is unclear, as yet, what they hope to achieve by the kidnapping but early reports indicate that they intend to demand the withdrawal of US troops from the country, which co-incidentally, is the same demand as those Iraqis who hold the Japanese, Russian and other hostages.

It seems there is a possibility of George W. Bush's worst nightmare coming to pass where not only Iraq's Sunni Moslems and Shiites have united against the US occupation but now the US marines have joined them too.

George W. Bush has reacted by announcing that this is the last thing he wanted in this, his re-election year. "When we find out where Mr Bremer is being held, the full force of the remaining US military will be used against the US military who have him in captivity"

You liberal fruit cakes probably think this is funny, but if everybody just suddenly up and decided all on his own he didn't want to fight it would spell the doom of warfare. Military dicipline would be completely impossible puting millions of people out of work and probably ruining the enonomy.
