I love these Xporter drives--I own a handful of them, but I've never gotten one with lanyard and USB cable; the picture at NE doesn't show them, either. Anyways, there's also a 10% off USB flash drives promo code BTEJHJH34 for those interested--knocks another $4.30 off.

In all seriousness, what do people use these drives for? 32GB seems huge...

ask not what your flash drive can do for you, but what you can do for your flash drive...

How about your entire music collection at a reasonable bitrate? Ever seen those car stereo decks with a USB port?
User code BTEJHJH34 for 10% off. An even better deal!
Unfortunately, that's a targeted promo code that won't work for those who didn't get the email.

For those who got it: BUY THIS.

I got that e-mail, and I used the promo code to buy this to gift to my dear, older brother for Christmas. I was considering it before jTek brought the code that I had received in my e-mail to my attention. The code put it over the top for me. This is going to be a solid gift for a brother that I was having trouble finding a gift for.

Cheer bros. Happy Holidays!

How fast are these? Could I use it as a slow SSD boot drive for a linux box, running mythtv?

They are pretty fast. My well used one will still put up ~16MB/s write and ~25MB/s read speeds on AS SSD. These are sequential numbers. The random numbers aren't as nice but that might be due to the AMD C-60 laptot I'm performing these tests from as the random results on the Intel 320 SSD in it are also lower then they should be.

thx op, I have one of the 16gb ones, but had to put it in the car. This will be good for work and other things.
