Patriot RAM vs. Kingston RAM

need to make my RAM purchase and I'm down to these 2 brands. Patriot because of all the great reviews of it but being a bit more expensive than Kingston. Kingston because my motherboard's website has Kingston for "recommended overclocking memory" as well as being cheaper than the other. the price difference is $50, I need to make a decision today! please help. 🙂

If you're not overclocking get the cheaper of the two. DDR/DDR2 prices have skyrocketed. 🙁

Prices are killing us.

I got the patriot ram when it as 179 but it was bad and I'm still waiting for the RMA.

I'm looking for another 2GB but at the current prices I don't think it's worth it.

I'd go for Kingston. Or look on your motherboard makers website, and see what is recommended. Kingston ValueRam is good stuff. I've used it a lot. Corsair, Mushkin, Crucial, Kingston, and OCZ are good. I don't know much about Patriot.

I'm so glad I got my ram while it was half the price it is now.
edit: get the kingston, it's cheaper and should work.

Good god that patriot is expensive now. I got that exact same ram as your looking at for 159 from new egg like a month and a half ago. That being said I haven't found the max on my patriot ram yet. Have had it as high as 900mhz 5-5-5-15. But had a problem with some other part of the system having it lockup. So right running it at 840.

Wow, that's ridiculus. My Corsair PC6400 RAM can't even hit speeds that high, given that my pos board can only give it 1.95 volts.
